The United Nations General Assembly High-Level Week in 2026, which marks the 81st session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 80), will be held in New York from 18-28 September 2026.
The UN General Assembly (UNGA) is the main policy-making organ of the Organization. Comprising all Member States, it provides a unique forum for multilateral discussion of the full spectrum of international issues covered by the Charter of the United Nations.
The 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly – under the theme Restoring trust, managing transformation: A United Nations that delivers for all – comes in the context of complex and interconnected global challenges. This year’s high-level week highlights the need to revitalize global cooperation, accelerate action on the Sustainable Development Goals, and drive collective action for peace, dignity and equality.

Accelerating universal health coverage for a more resilient world: the road to the 2027 high level meeting
The 7th annual ministerial meeting of the Group of Friends of UHC and Global Health will informally kick off preparations for the 2027 UN high-level meeting on UHC by bringing together leaders to discuss how to improve the accessibility and affordability of health services through policies and systems that leave no one behind.

High-level Meeting on Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response
The President of the United Nations General Assembly will convene a one-day meeting aimed at mobilizing political will at the national, regional and international levels for pandemic prevention, preparedness and response. Guided by the theme Fostering a multilateral and intergenerational approach to prevent, prepare for and respond to pandemics and public health emergencies, through the principles of equity and solidarity, the meeting will culminate in the approval of a concise, action-oriented political declaration agreed upon by consensus through intergovernmental negotiations.
