Multi-stakeholder Hearings on Universal Health Coverage (UHC) / Tuberculosis / Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response

Multi-stakeholder hearing (May 8-9, 2023)

The multi-stakeholder hearings on health will take place on 8 - 9 May at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, USA. Registration to attend the hearings has closed.

The President of the United Nations General Assembly will convene a series of multi-stakeholder hearings in preparation of the High-Level Meetings on Universal Health Coverage, the fight against Tuberculosis and Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response. The Hearings will provide an opportunity for all relevant stakeholders to contribute to the ongoing preparatory process for the High-Level Meetings, with a focus on the current state of efforts and top needs to accelerate response. Participants will be encouraged to exchange views on key priorities for the High-Level Meeting, while underscoring experiences and best practices on the ground, highlighting the special challenges faced by civil society and other relevant stakeholders working in the field and the need for stronger accountability at all levels.

The Hearings will bring together representatives of the Member States, observers of the General Assembly, parliamentarians, representative of local government, relevant UN entities, civil society organizations, non-governmental organizations, academia, professional associations and the private sector and broader communities. This includes ensuring the participation and voices of women, children, youth and indigenous leadership. The Hearings will be live-streamed here.

The outcome for each will be a summary prepared by the President of the General Assembly. It will be circulated to all Member States and other stakeholders.

Each half-day interactive Hearing will be divided into an opening segment, two interactive panel discussions and a closing segment. The themes of the panels are “UHC as a driver to accelerate health for all” and “From UHC Commitment to Actions and Accountability”. You can view a programme on the PGA website.”

The two panels will feature introductory statements by panelists followed by an interactive segment. The guiding questions for each thematic panel are provided in the provisional programme framework available on the PGA website.
