Toolkit on health budget literacy, advocacy and accountability for UHC
Health budget literacy, advocacy and accountability is critical for civil society and other stakeholders to influence decision-making processes for universal health coverage (UHC). Activities involve accessing budget information, analysis to expose decisions and their implications, and influencing budget choices through advocacy and accountability.
The toolkit on health budget literacy advocacy and accountability for UHC, is the product of a collective effort of many partners coordinated by UHC2030 and PMNCH. The toolkit can be used to design trainings and capacity-building workshops for the specific learning needs and interests. The content is based mainly on existing resources produced by WHO and other partners on health financing and budget analysis with the objective of making it a repository of such knowledge that can be used for capacity-building for various stakeholders. The toolkit is directed at facilitators, trainers or health activists who have experience in health budget advocacy and accountability, and who will use this toolkit to build capacity for civil society organizations, the media and parliamentarians and their staff.
The Health budget literacy, advocacy and accountability for universal health coverage toolkit contains a myriad of resources, but not all resources will be necessary for all users. We encourage users to select and download those sections which will be most useful.
