WHA side event on Institutionalising social participation for PHC, UHC and health security
Co-Hosts: NHCO Thailand, Madagascar, Tunisia, Slovenia, Norway, UHC Partnership, UHC2030 and the CSEM
This event aims to demonstrate political support for social participation among Member States and raise awareness and mobilise support for a WHA77 resolution on moving towards institutionalising social participation.

WHA side-event - From commitment to action: how the UN high-level meeting is key to delivering health for all
Co-hosts: Georgia, Germany, Japan, the Slovak Republic, Thailand
This side-event will provide an opportunity to convene Member States and other stakeholders to show how countries championing UHC can lead by example in securing successful outcomes at the UN high-level meeting on UHC and the other two high-level meetings by promoting coherent, integrated and action-oriented pathways in global health. It will also provide an opportunity to share the key messages from the multistakeholder hearing based on the summary report of the President of the UN General Assembly.

PMNCH’s 5th Lives in the Balance: Protecting the Promise for Women, Children and Adolescents this year will consist of three events, each with its own specific focus, while all grounded in the WHA report on Committing to implementation of the Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health (2016–2030):
- The Opening Event on Sunday, 21 May will discuss practical actions countries and partners can take to improve the health and rights of women, children and adolescents;
- Adolescent Health and SRHR on Monday, 22 May will prioritize adolescent well-being, including comprehensive SRHR programmes and increase momentum for the 1.8 Young People for Change campaign and Global Forum for Adolescents
- Maternal, Newborn and Child Health on Wednesday 24 May will emphasize the importance of multi-sectoral collaboration in ensuring that every mother, baby and child not only survives, but thrives.

Enabling future innovation to achieve UHC and better pandemic preparedness

The COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the vital role of innovation in realizing Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and improving global pandemic preparedness. However, there are critical enablers that allow innovation to take place.

This event on the sidelines of the 76th World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland, will focus attention on the role of HPSR in moving countries closer towards UHC. It will also be an opportunity to reflect on findings of a research programme supported by the Alliance in partnership with UHC2030 and the WHO Department of Health Governance and Financing that has been informing how countries and development partners can better manage donor transitions towards sustaining coverage of critical health interventions previously supported by donors in the absence of donor funding.
