23 September

The UN High-Level Meeting (UN HLM) on Universal Health Coverage will take place on 23 September 2019 during the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) high-level week in New York.

The theme of the UN HLM is ‘Universal Health Coverage: Moving Together to Build a Healthier World.’ This is a great opportunity for all UHC champions and advocates to make your voice heard and help mobilise high-level political attention globally and in your countries.

This UN HLM will be the last chance before 2023, the mid-point of the SDGs, to mobilise the highest political support to package the entire health agenda under the umbrella of UHC, and sustain health investments in a harmonised manner.

The High-level meeting itself is open only to two groups of representatives, who must apply for registration by 9 August 2019:
Organizations in consultative status with ECOSOC
All entities that have been specially-accredited to the UN HLM process

However, there are a series of side events taking place around the High-Level Meeting, many of which are open to all. The following selected events are the UHC2030 hosting or co-organizing events during the 74th UN General Assembly. For a list of further events held during the UN General Assembly, please refer to the UNGA guide 2019.

For everyone who is interested in publishing their event on the UNGA guide, please use this submission form.

Key Asks from the UHC movement

UHC2030 developed the Key Asks from the UHC movement through a consultative process to provide a basis for coordinated advocacy efforts and feed into the HLM political declaration. The Key Asks featured highly during the Multistakeholder Hearing which was organised by the President of the UN General Assembly on 29 April to allow a range of partners to make their own specific statements about their hopes and ambitions for the outcomes of the UN HLM.

It is hoped the Key Asks will guide country deliberations during the inter-governmental process and support the preparation of specific commitments to UHC announced during the UN High-Level Meeting.
